Off to buy the FTA hardware this weekend. Will be watchig the UK’s programming from now on. Don’t see the point in continuing to invest in equipment for Irish programming. Shame because they could do it if they wanted. The issue appears to be the huge overhead in paying salaries to the controllers of RTE, and then there’s not enough of the license fee/advertising revenue left over to actually produce anything worthwhile

The Sky + RTE marriage stinks of brown envelopes,as many people would cancel their sky subscriptions if RTE was available free to air as it should be.
Every country in europe has at least one national broadcaster free to air via satellite.

Hallelujah brother…I couldn’t agree more, the decision to grant planning has not only dumbfounded me but has left me feeling utterly disappointed in the powers that be. The planning authorities should be nurturing and protecting our wonderful heritage instead of granting a free for all sabotage of our wonderful village.

I would like to share the fact that my family owned the now ‘breffni centre’ before being sold to the said development co. and I have many happy childhood memories of the house. Needless to say I am upset that the house will be pulled down to accomodate yet another supermarket. Maybe I’m biased (as a former McGoldrick family tie – my mother, plays a part in this lovely village’s life) as there is a thriving Gilmors as well as McGoldrick’s in the street already – surely it doesn’t need another rival? if you read this Shane—- please, please let it remain the wonderful home it once was (live there yourself, you’ll soon see)

Well, gotta say I agree with everything said. Driving into Dromahair is now like entering a giant Lego land. What we need is a great big wall around the village, you know, a little bit like the one Shane has around his house/castle/mansion to prevent anymore popstars or the like turning Dromahair into an even bigger monstrosity. Bring on the bulldozers…..
